I live in the world of reasoned discourse, sense and intelligence, responsibility, and generally civilised behaviour. It's as real to me as the world of asinine drivel, cruel jibes, and juvenile stupidity is to the majority of people who now come here. I love Crete, and that is why when I came here and found like-minded and friendly people who also loved Crete, I stayed for 11 years. Far too long. Interkriti - the forum at least - is scarcely about Crete now, and there is little sensible discussion, little friendliness, and a lot of the other stuff. I don't like it now. Does that mean I should leave? Yes, of course it does. And I did leave, as so many have. So you and "the likes of you" have won, as the barbarians always have and probably always will. But today I put my head around the door because there was an opportunity, with the webmaster's deletion of those two threads, to take a stand and do my bit to banish the barbarians. I did like it here, for years, before the barbarians (or the lunatics, or the morons, or whatever one wants to call them) took over, and I'd like to like it here again. I can see no reason why I shouldn't speak my mind in the attempt to encourage change. You and your cohorts will of course continue to speak yours. Good luck to you. |
