The area's name Paligremnos is derived from the cliff close to the house and means something like another slope.
Paligremnos is one of the few places on Crete with sand dunes, they are right across the beach road.
The beach itself is well-tended, including a life guard overlooking the water.
The village of Plakias is in easy walking distance. Further tavernas, shops, super markets and a handfull of different bars are there to provide more than only necessities.
Crete's south coast has much more to offer than beautiful beaches, although there are plenty of them even in close proximity.
Although living on an island about half of the Cretans are rather mountain inhabitants, growing sheep, olive trees and vegetables.
Think about visiting the Psiloritis Mountain, the impressive Samaria Gorge in the White Mountains ore one of the archaeologic sites to learn about the earliest beginnings of 'european' culture.
