Amoudara is the longest beach of Iraklion area and lies 6 km west of the city of Iraklion, from Xeropotamos to Linoperamata and the out flow of Almyros river.
There is a continuous trasportation service with public buses.
Amoudara provides all the amenities of a modern city, due to its proximity to Iraklion.
Plenty of hotels - among them Agapi Beach, Candia Maris, Apollonia beach, Akti Zeus etc - , apartments, taverns, restaurants, bars, car & bike rentals , sports facilities, shops, super-markets e.t.c. Everything can be found along the long main street.
Close to Ammoudara are the village of Gazi, the archaeological site of Tylissos, the University of Crete and the Foundation for Research & Technology, the University general hospital, the village of Rogdia etc.
